How to check a transport licence step by step

The register you open depends on the carrier country. The steps below apply to any of them once you know which one to open.

Step 1: pick the register for the carrier country

Each country runs its own transport register: KREPTD in Poland, ARR in Romania, JISCD in Slovakia, RPSD in Czechia, LTSA in Lithuania, ATD in Latvia, RTA in Bulgaria, Infotrans in France, MTR in Estonia, NER in Slovenia, and MGSI eITP in Serbia. Open the correct one for the carrier from the sources listed on this page.

Step 2: search by the local company identifier

Search using the identifier that register expects: NIP for KREPTD, CUI for ARR, IČO for JISCD and RPSD, company code for LTSA, registration number for ATD, EIK for RTA, or SIREN for Infotrans. Run the search on booking day rather than reusing an older result.

Step 3: read the licence type, status, and validity dates

Open the matched record and read the licence type, current status, and validity dates. Compare the validity end date to your pickup date, not to today, since a licence can lapse between your check and the actual load.

Step 4: compare the licence holder to your other documents

Match the name on the licence to the name in the company register and on the invoice. A licence held by a different legal entity than the one you are contracting with needs an explanation before you proceed.

Step 5: confirm cross-border scope when the lane needs it

For international lanes, check that a community or international licence line exists alongside any domestic permit. A domestic-only licence does not cover a load that crosses a border.

Step 6: save the extract with the date

Save a screenshot, PDF, or print of the register result with the date you checked it, and keep it with the load file so you can show what the register said on booking day.

What the check means

Transport licence verification means reading the government road transport register for the carrier country. The register shows whether the operator holds a national goods permit or EU Community licence, the status, vehicle counts, and transport managers where the source publishes them.

Supported countries use different registers: KREPTD in Poland, ARR in Romania, RPSD and RŽP in Czechia, LTSA in Lithuania, ATD in Latvia, RTA in Bulgaria, JISCD in Slovakia, MTR in Estonia, NER in Slovenia, MGSI eITP in Serbia, and others published by each authority.

A dissolved company cannot haul, but an active company without a licence cannot either.

Limits of the check

Registers show operator rights, not whether this specific truck is on the permit today.
Plate-based vehicle copy checks are separate sources in Romania and other countries.
Register downtime means retry, not approval on email alone.
A valid licence does not prove cargo insurance or VAT alignment.
Some small operators hold national permits that do not appear in every public UI field.

Community licence missing on a cross-border lane

Requires review. National permit alone may not cover international goods transport.
