Verify Eastern European carriers before you assign a load
To verify Eastern European carriers you need the right national registers, not just VIES: KRS and KREPTD in Poland, ANAF and ARR in Romania, ORSR and JISCD in Slovakia, and parallel sources in Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Keep the same order across borders: company, licence, VAT, insurance, contact. Match checks to the carrier country code, not your office location.

The operational problem
CEE carrier verification fails when someone applies a Polish habit to a Romanian NIP or checks VIES alone and calls it done.
Each country uses different portals, languages, and plate-dependent insurance bureaus. Manual work does not scale when half your subcontractor base sits east of Berlin.
What needs to be checked
VIES and Domain run on every supported country. National registers differ. Use this table before you verify Eastern European carriers on a new lane.

Where manual processes fail
Cross-border desks often verify the wrong country or stop at VAT.
- Opening KRS for a Romanian CUI because the forwarder is Polish.
- Skipping plate-based insurance when ARR vehicle data was already available.
- Trusting an English PDF summary instead of ANAF or ARES live status.
- Assuming all CEE countries share one transport licence portal.
- No re-check when the carrier switches from PL to RO entity mid-relationship.

KRS or CEIDG, KREPTD, VIES, VAT whitelist, UFG with plates, then email versus register.
Return RO
ANAF RegistruTVA, ARR on ARR public register, VIES, AIDA with plates, then contact. Clear both legs before any pickup address is shared.
Red flags and common mistakes
Wrong country register
VIES checked but national company register never opened for the carrier country code. Common CEE carrier verification mistake.
Licence valid, company inactive
KREPTD or ARR looks fine but KRS or ANAF shows liquidation. Hard stop until cleared.
Insurance checked without plates in PL or RO
UFG and AIDA often need registration numbers. Do not skip bureau checks when plates are already on file.
Western invoice entity, Eastern operator
Contract party in DE or NL but licence and insurance on a CEE NIP you never verified. Match all three.
Freemail despite established CEE fleet
Large vehicle count in register but contact from a new domain. Compare RDAP or registry creation date with company founding date, or historical signals when the date is unpublished.
Single VIES pass for "CEE cleared"
VAT active does not prove haulage rights. Transport licence and company status still required.
When you do not want to repeat this for every load
Country code drives the register bundle. Verify Polish Romanian carriers and Baltic or Bulgarian carriers in the same product flow without maintaining your own link library.
Plate-triggered sources run when you provide registration numbers. Verification results tell you what needs review before Western ops sends pickup details eastbound.

Which Eastern European countries does Certica cover?
Today we cover Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Lithuania, Latvia, Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, France, Slovenia, and Serbia. Each country has different registers. See Documentation for the current list per country.
Is Poland or Romania harder to verify manually?
Both need multiple portals. Poland adds UFG with plates and VAT whitelist. Romania adds ARR vehicle data and AIDA RCA. Certica runs the mapped set per country automatically.
Do we verify the forwarder country or the carrier country?
Always the carrier VAT country code. Your office in Germany still checks Polish registers for a PL haulier.
What does CEE carrier verification not cover?
Certica does not replace on-site fleet audits, driver licence checks, or payment performance history. It covers register-based company, licence, VAT, insurance, and domain signals.
Can we verify carriers outside CEE?
Certica covers Central and Eastern European registers in production today. Western markets outside the enabled country list are not available yet. See Documentation for current coverage.
