How to check an InterRisk carrier liability policy
On an InterRisk series K carrier liability policy, first read the product title next to the red square, match “Ubezpieczony” (insured) to the booking and write down “POLISA seria K NR” (series K policy number), not “kontynuacja polisy seria K nr” (continuation of a series K policy). Domestic and international sums can be “na jeden i wszystkie wypadki” (for one event and for all events). German cabotage is IR 16 or IR 15. IR 17 is EU cabotage excluding Germany. You cannot look the file up by number online: confirm it with Inne zgłoszenie (other request) on interrisk.pl.
This is an independent Certica tutorial. It was not written or approved by InterRisk. The document shown is not a live insurance policy.
What the document can confirm, and what it cannot
Check an InterRisk policy in two stages. First read the document and compare it with the booking. If the rate, the cargo or the file looks wrong, send a request through Inne zgłoszenie (other request) on interrisk.pl/formularze-online or through a branch from interrisk.pl/znajdz-placowke.
The screenshots are a Polish InterRisk form. Match the printed labels. Each Polish field name in this walkthrough is followed by the English meaning in brackets.
OCP is the Polish label for carrier liability for goods in transit, also called CMR insurance or cargo liability. On an InterRisk form the product line is “UBEZPIECZENIE ODPOWIEDZIALNOŚCI CYWILNEJ PRZEWOŹNIKA DROGOWEGO” (road carrier civil-liability insurance). It is not vehicle MTPL. Check tractor and trailer MTPL separately in UFG. A company record in KRS or CEIDG is not carrier verification.
What the first page of an InterRisk policy looks like
Numbers 1 to 5 on the graphic are the product title, “Ubezpieczony” (insured), “POLISA seria K NR” (series K policy number) with “OKRES UBEZPIECZENIA” (period of insurance), “ZAKRES TERYTORIALNY” (territorial scope) with “SUMY GWARANCYJNE” (sums insured), and “POSTANOWIENIA DODATKOWE DO PRODUKTU” (additional product provisions). IR clauses sit on later pages. Step 6 is DMC and vehicle count in IR 16, not a plate list. Step 7 is confirmation outside the document. The printed labels are in Polish. Each step quotes those words and gives the English meaning in brackets.

How to check an InterRisk carrier liability policy step by step
Step 1. Subject of insurance
On the first page find the red square and the title “UBEZPIECZENIE ODPOWIEDZIALNOŚCI CYWILNEJ PRZEWOŹNIKA DROGOWEGO W RUCHU KRAJOWYM I MIĘDZYNARODOWYM ORAZ PRZEWOZACH KABOTAŻOWYCH” (road carrier liability in domestic and international traffic and in cabotage). That title is not proof that cabotage was bought. Cabotage is bought with IR 15, IR 16 or IR 17.
On the second page read “PRZEDMIOT UBEZPIECZENIA” (subject of insurance). The form cites the Civil Code, Prawo przewozowe (Polish transport law) for domestic hauls and the CMR Convention for international hauls. In “Podstawa zawarcia ubezpieczenia” (basis of the contract) check the OWU resolution. This form prints resolution no. 05/06/07/2021 from 1 August 2021.
Step 2. Insured party
Find “UBEZPIECZAJĄCY” (policyholder) and “UBEZPIECZONY” (insured). The booking decision turns on the insured. Compare the full legal name, legal form, NIP and address with the contract and the current company record.

Watch this
A similar trading name is not enough. A policy issued to the owner, another group company or a previous business needs an explanation before loading.
Step 3. Policy number and period
Copy “POLISA seria K NR” (series K policy number) exactly as printed in the header. Lower down you may see “kontynuacja polisy seria K nr” (continuation of a series K policy). That is the previous contract, not this policy number. Dates in “OKRES UBEZPIECZENIA” (period of insurance) must cover loading, the journey and the planned unloading.
In the footer check “Oryginał” (original) and the page count, on this form “1 z 7” (1 of 7). The annex with the full IR clause texts sits outside those seven pages. The first page alone does not finish the reading.

Step 4. Sum, territory and deductible
In “ZAKRES TERYTORIALNY” (territorial scope) read the whole sentence, not the word EUROPA alone. On this form international traffic is Europe excluding Russia, Belarus and Ukraine and also Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The word “oraz” (and) adds more exclusions, not countries inside the scope.
In “SUMY GWARANCYJNE” (sums insured) the first row can say “OCPD w ruchu krajowym i międzynarodowym na jeden i wszystkie wypadki” (domestic and international carrier liability for one event and for all events). That sum shrinks after a payout. Do not copy it onto IR 16. IR 16 prints “na jeden wypadek” (per event) and “na wszystkie wypadki” (for all events) as two amounts.
In “FRANSZYZA REDUKCYJNA” (deductible) each line has its own amount: domestic, international, EU cabotage and German cabotage. Next to IR 24 also read “MOP” (parking in a guarded lorry park).

Step 5. Cargo and clauses
Open “KLAUZULE DODATKOWE” (additional clauses), then “POSTANOWIENIA DODATKOWE DO PRODUKTU” (additional product provisions). On this series K form the exclusion list repeats §4 ust. 3 of the OWU: ADR class I and VII, animals, remains, damaged goods, cars, relocation property, valuables, waste, oversize cargo, medical products and postal consignments outside Prawo przewozowe or CMR.
Below that find “Zakres ubezpieczenia obejmuje” (the cover includes). Medicines enter only with the line “z zastrzeżeniem wyłączenia §4 ust. 3 pkt. 10 OWU włączone Leki i farmaceutyki” (subject to the §4(3)(10) exclusion, medicines and pharmaceuticals are included) and with a sublimit. Cars enter only when a clause “modyfikuje zapis §4 ust. 3 pkt 4)5) OWU” (modifies §4(3) points 4 and 5).
If your file also prints “RODZAJ PRZEWOŻONYCH ŁADUNKÓW” (type of goods carried), read that field the same way. A named list is not all-risk cover.

Watch this
If there is no line bringing medicines or vehicles back in, the §4 ust. 3 exclusion stays. An IR clause name on the list does not buy that cargo.
Step 6. DMC and vehicle count
This series K form has no “Nr rej.” (registration no.) list. In the IR 16 annex find “dopuszczalnej masie całkowitej (DMC) pow. 3,5 t” (permissible total mass above 3.5 t) and the sentence “Podstawę naliczenia składki stanowi liczba pojazdów” (the premium is based on the number of vehicles). German cabotage is tied to DMC and vehicle count, not to a plate printed on the policy.
If the policy prints IR 15, that is German cabotage for vehicles up to 3.5 t. IR 16 does not cover the same set.

Step 7. Official confirmation
InterRisk has no public OCP search by number. Open interrisk.pl/formularze-online and use the block “Inne zgłoszenie” (other request). Find a branch on interrisk.pl/znajdz-placowke. Do not use a phone number that appears only in the carrier’s email.
In the OWU block check the resolution. This form prints 05/06/07/2021. Missing pages with the IR clauses or a missing IR 16 annex change the reading of the whole scope.
Limits most often missed on InterRisk policies
IR 17 does not buy cabotage in Germany
In “KLAUZULE DODATKOWE” (additional clauses) find “IR 17 Klauzula odpowiedzialności cywilnej Przewoźnika drogowego w ruchu kabotażowym na terenie państw – członków Unii Europejskiej z wyłączeniem Republiki Federalnej Niemiec” (IR 17 road-carrier liability for cabotage in EU member states excluding the Federal Republic of Germany).
Read the EUR sublimit “na jeden i wszystkie wypadki” (for one event and for all events). The domestic-plus-international sum does not replace that row. IR 17 ends with the Germany exclusion. The EU deductible line can add Sweden, Switzerland and Norway, still excluding Germany.

IR 16 and IR 15 are two different German cabotage covers
Find the rows “OCPD w przewozach kabotażowych na terenie Niemiec dla pojazdów o DMC pow. 3,5t” (carrier liability for cabotage in Germany for vehicles above 3.5 t DMC) and the note “zgodnie z klauzulą IR 16” (under clause IR 16). IR 16 has two amounts: per event and for all events. When the aggregate limit is used up, cover ends.
IR 15 is German cabotage up to 3.5 t. Do not copy the IR 16 sum onto a vehicle at or under 3.5 t DMC. Territory in this block is Germany. The legal basis is cabotage under Regulation 1072/2009, not the CMR Convention alone.

A sum “na jeden i wszystkie wypadki” shrinks after a claim
The first SUMY GWARANCYJNE row can say “na jeden i wszystkie wypadki” (for one event and for all events). That is per event and for the whole period at once. After a payout, less remains. A PDF from the start of the period does not show what is left.
IR 16 splits those two limits. Do not read both blocks with the same formula.
§4 ust. 3 of the OWU excludes cargo until a line brings it back
The list in POSTANOWIENIA DODATKOWE DO PRODUKTU is a set of exclusions. Medicines return only with the sentence about §4 ust. 3 pkt 10 and a sublimit. Vehicles return only with a modification of §4 ust. 3 pkt 4)5).
ADR class I and VII stay out even when a later line says “przewóz towarów niebezpiecznych (ADR z wyłączeniem klasy I i VII)” (carriage of dangerous goods, ADR excluding class I and VII).
IR 24 and MOP are two different parking rules
In FRANSZYZA REDUKCYJNA find “(IR 24) Klauzula rozszerzenia ochrony ubezpieczeniowej o ryzyko postoju poza Miejscem strzeżonym” (IR 24 extension for parking outside a guarded place). The base amount and the line “MOP 10 % wartości szkody nie mniej niż 500 EURO” (MOP 10% of the loss, not less than 500 euro) are not the same.
Without IR 24, parking outside a guarded place can fall outside cover. The clause name on the KLAUZULE DODATKOWE list does not finish the deductible check.
Europe on this form does not include the eastern list
The sentence “EUROPA z wyłączeniem Rosji, Białorusi i Ukrainy oraz Armenii, Azerbejdżanu, Gruzji, Kazachstanu, Kirgistanu, Mołdawii, Tadżykistanu, Turkmenistanu i Uzbekistanu” (Europe excluding Russia, Belarus and Ukraine and also Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) drops the whole list. A route through Kazakhstan or Moldova does not enter the word Europe in that row.
How to decide after you have read the policy
| Check result | What it means | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| The product, identity, dates, route, sum and §4 ust. 3 cargo match the booking | The document fits the planned haul | Record the result and finish the other carrier checks |
| A different name or NIP in Ubezpieczony | The policy may belong to another party | Hold the decision and ask for an explanation or the right file |
| The period ends before unloading | The document does not cover the whole planned haul | Ask for a renewal and confirmation before loading |
| The cargo is medicines or cars and POSTANOWIENIA has no including line | The §4 ust. 3 exclusion stays | Read the full policy or get confirmation from InterRisk |
| German cabotage, but the file has only IR 17 or no IR 16 and no IR 15 | IR 17 excludes Germany. The domestic-plus-international sum does not buy that scope | Find IR 16 or IR 15, the DMC line and both sums, then confirm the file on interrisk.pl |
| You received only page 1 of 7 without the IR annex | The file is incomplete | Ask for the full carrier liability policy and a copy through Inne zgłoszenie on interrisk.pl |
What a PDF check does not confirm
How to read an InterRisk policy is a different question from how to confirm that the contract is still current. The file lets you judge the declared scope. It does not open the insurer’s live record.
- The PDF can be old, changed or incomplete.
- A signature and a logo do not prove authenticity on their own.
- A paid premium does not prove that the scope was not changed later.
- Carrier liability does not confirm vehicle MTPL, the transport licence, VAT or the company status.
- A final view on whether the cover is adequate may need a broker, the insurer or a lawyer.
Keep this in mind
The PDF alone does not prove that the contract was not later changed, cancelled or limited by an annex.
Don’t want to analyse every policy by hand?
Certica analyses the uploaded carrier liability policy in any language. It reads the insured party, the period, the document type, the territorial scopes, the sums and the named cargo categories.

FAQ
Can I check an InterRisk carrier liability policy online by number?
No. InterRisk has no public carrier-liability search by number. Request a copy or the contract terms through Inne zgłoszenie (other request) on interrisk.pl/formularze-online or through a branch from interrisk.pl/znajdz-placowke.
Is an InterRisk carrier liability policy the same as vehicle MTPL?
No. OCP is carrier liability for the goods and the haul. Vehicle MTPL is compulsory motor cover. For Polish plates check it separately in UFG.
Where is the sum insured on an InterRisk policy?
In the SUMY GWARANCYJNE (sums insured) table on the second page. The first row can be for one event and for all events on domestic and international traffic. German cabotage has two separate amounts in IR 16: per event and for all events.
Which policy dates should I compare with the booking?
The dates in OKRES UBEZPIECZENIA (period of insurance) must cover the whole haul: loading, the journey and the planned unloading. The number next to kontynuacja polisy seria K nr is the previous contract, not this policy.
Does the InterRisk form replace reading the clauses?
No. Inne zgłoszenie on interrisk.pl requests a copy or the terms. It does not show IR 16, IR 17, the §4 ust. 3 list or IR 24. You still need the full policy to judge cargo and route.
What should I check before German cabotage on an InterRisk policy?
Check that IR 16 or IR 15 exists, that DMC matches the clause, that both IR 16 sums are printed and that IR 17 is not the only cabotage row. IR 17 excludes Germany. Then request confirmation on interrisk.pl.
How is IR 16 different from IR 17 on an InterRisk policy?
IR 16 is cabotage in Germany for vehicles above 3.5 t DMC, with two sums. IR 15 is Germany up to 3.5 t. IR 17 is cabotage in the EU excluding the Federal Republic of Germany.
